We would be thrilled for you to rent our facility space within the Townsend Center at UWG to help turn your event into reality!

The Townsend Center for the Performing Arts contains a 459-seat Main Stage theatre, with a proscenium stage and orchestra pit, and a Black Box theatre which seats up to 170 for experimental theatre, chamber music, receptions, and other small-scale events. The facility includes offices, a lobby with grand piano and digital monitors, a Box Office, two dressing rooms, a rehearsal room, a green room, a scene shop, a loading dock, and outdoor patio space.

Performance instruments include two Bösendorfer Imperial Grand Pianos, a Kawai Grand Piano, and a Yamaha U3 upright piano. Lighting, sound, staging, rigging, and soft goods equipment are extensive, well-maintained, and up to date. The Orchestra Lift is fully functional, featuring an industrial-grade application from Serapid Technologies. The TCPA is located on the Carrollton campus of the University of West Georgia.

The TCPA was officially opened in April of 1989 as the Performing Arts Center, and is wholly owned by the University System of Georgia. Managed by the University of West Georgia, the TCPA has a full-time professional staff and a wonderful team of amazing student workers to bring your event to life.

Main Stage Theatre Information

  • Type of Theatre: Indoor Proscenium
  • Seating Capacity: 455 (permanent, floor) Raked (5" steps, no ramps) + 4 wheelchair positions. All seats on main floor, no balcony or boxes, but most do require stair access.
  • Stage Dimensions: 35’ x 74’
  • Overhead Grid Height: 45’
  • The theatre can be darkened completely with the exception of four (4) "EXIT" signs and aisle lights.

Richard L. Dangle "Black Box" Theatre Information

  • Type of Theatre: Indoor Blackbox
  • Seating Capacity: 100-170 No permanent seats, All seats on main floor, no
  • balcony or boxes.
  • Stage Dimensions: 35’ x 48’ with curve that matches Mainstage pit.
  • Overhead Grid Height: 15’ 6”
  • The theatre can be darkened completely with the exception of five (5) "EXIT" signs.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • All ticketing is handled exclusively by the TCPA Box Office. No tickets may be printed, sold, or distributed by renters.
  • No Date is guaranteed or should be considered firm until a signed contract is executed along with payment of any applicable deposits. If you do not have a signed contract, your date is not confirmed.
  • NO glitter or confetti is allowed to be shot, thrown, or used in the TCPA under any circumstances.

Ticketed Events

In addition to facility rental and event production services, the Townsend Center also provides professionally managed Ticketing Services, including consulting for pricing and house scaling, sophisticated ticketing software, advanced admissions technology, customer service, order fulfillment, and patron communications. Payment processing includes cash, check, and major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Our team will contact you to meet with the Technical Staff. This pre-production is to discuss your needs and estimate expenses for the event. During this meeting, the TCPA staff will determine access times, staging setup, technical requirements, front-of-house needs, box office needs, and safety/security needs. This allows the Townsend Center staff to plan and staff your event, have all equipment ready upon your arrival, and develop the most accurate estimate of the cost of your event. This meeting should occur no later than two months before the event.
