For the last 31 years, The Peking Acrobats® have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. They perform daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs and display their technical prowess in such arts as trick cycling, precision tumbling, juggling, somersaulting, and gymnastics. They push the limits of human ability, defying gravity with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility, and control. Accompanied by live musicians who skillfully play traditional Chinese instruments, the time-honored Chinese music coalesces with high-tech special effects and awe-inspiring acrobatic feats, creating an exuberant entertainment event with the festive pageantry of a Chinese Carnival.

Dr. Albert Zink, Head of the Institute for Mummy Studies (Bozen, Italy) and one of the most renowned mummy researchers in the world, will speak about Ötzi, the 5300-year-old mummy discovered in the Tyrolean Alps in 1991. This being one of the most exciting archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, his visit here will provide a unique opportunity to hear more about a moment in time, frozen in ice about 5000 years ago. His presentation will include a question-and-answer session. The Distinguished Waring Lecture Series is a yearly event organized through the UWG Anthropology Program and is funded by the Antonio J. Waring Jr. Endowment. The event is free and open to the public.
